PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Calypso Organisation (TUCO) Friday said it was backing the stance taken by calypsonians to boycott the Calypso Monarch finals on Sunday if there is not an increase in the prize monies.

Swappi's Bucket (Scratch Master Remix)
One of the few ways I can find to describe this young man is as a disruption in the force. And this is one of just a handful of truly powerful songs I’ve heard for the entire season. I can only imagine the havoc that this pore-raising mix would cause on the road.
Enjoy this remix to Swappi’s break away tune, “Bucket”.

Bokklechuk: A Carnival Sport
RULES
Each bokklechuk team comprises fourteen players: three chuckers, four duckers, one chain up specialist, one ragman (or woman, as the case may be), and five old alcoholics, because somebody has to empty the bottles to be used for game play.
The playing surface is to be a minimum 100 metres by 20 metres, selected by the two or more teams involved in the bokklechuk contest at game time.

This 10 minute video was very, very deep, and cuts to the heart of a problem that affects more than one diasporic community. Take the time to watch it, and think on it and on the little things that we do and say and believe that contribute to the continuation of this deep seated issue of identity and image.

Really good article from tech news source Ars Technica on the US Stop Online Piracy Act, being debated in their House of Representatives. Its sister legislation, the Protection of Intellectual Property Act (PIPA), seems to have already collapsed in the Senate in response to clearly indicated non-support by several big players on the ‘net.

With all the madness going on nowadays, we need a lil’ ease.
Our loveble lunatic Crazy has gone back to his rude roots. This offering for the 2012 Carnival season is a keeper that will be mashing up the fetes for the season, the road on Monday and Tuesday, and the dancehalls all year through.

Definition: Police State.
The term police state describes a state in which the government exercises rigid and repressive controls over the social, economic and political life of the population. A police state typically exhibits elements of totalitarianism and social control, and there is usually little or no distinction between the law and the exercise of political power by the executive.

The critical and crucial flaw in the new DNA Bill.
Says columnist Judy Raymond in her Sunday Express article today:
The DNA Bill had about as much respect for civil rights. It needed a special majority, because, Mr Volney said breezily, “It may be arguable that the mandatory taking of a sample infringes bodily integrity and privacy.”
Like the State of Emergency, another of the Government’s anti-crime measures, this [Bill] will...
